Decker Shado Critiques Gut (VID)
A void has appeared in Tom's life. Dan, his boyhood best friend who he first met in high school, is still holding on to the past despite the fact that his wife, his work, and even his childhood sweetheart have all faded away. On (click here) a daily basis, he goes through the motions, growing more and more aloof from individuals in his immediate vicinity. To be convinced, Tom must witness Dan's plan in action, which he will do tonight. That which Dan reveals Tom disturbs Tom, fills his mind with disquieting visions, and binds the two friends together in the dark secret it contains.
Gut (2012) is a low-budget film about two adult friends who reconnect when one of them obtains a collection of snuff videos. That the recordings appear so genuine isn't the only reason things deteriorate swiftly. Will this be as good as any film festival film I've reviewed in the past, or will I be pleasantly pleased for the first time?
